Beyond the Walls: Embracing the Light of Faith
Walls tend to divide, separate, and enclose us, which, in some cases, are important and necessary for protection and security. However, walls can also hinder our ability to communicate, feel, and experience the beautiful wonders nearby.
Windows, on the other hand, allow us to see far beyond the walls. They bring warmth and light into our space, and they enable communication, especially when opened.
It is interesting to note that while we can have walls without windows, it is uncommon to have windows without walls.
In life, we need walls, but our lives are richer and more wonderful with windows included. Daniel was aware of the efforts of evil men to close him off and shut him out from serving his God and even the earthly King Darius. In Daniel 6:10, we read, "He went home to his upstairs room where the windows opened toward Jerusalem. Three times a day he got down on his knees and prayed, giving thanks to his God, just as he had done before."
There were many walls closing in around Daniel, but he opened the windows to his room and to his heart, allowing him to stay focused on what lay beyond the walls and to communicate with his Divine and Almighty God.
I need walls, but I am thankful for the windows in my life that I can open, allowing me not only to see but also to communicate with the same God that Daniel focused on.
