Finding Strength in God’s Unfailing Love

In recounting her rescue from Somalia by United States Special Forces in 2011, Jessica Buchanan remarked, "It felt like I was the most important thing in the world to them." The Special Forces made a profound and lasting impact on Jessica's life. The U.S. military deserves commendation for their dedicated service.

While it is understandable that Jessica felt special and cared for during such a harrowing time, you should also feel valued. You are loved, cared for, and protected by the King of Kings and the Lord of Lords. You matter! God sent His only begotten Son to endure the horrors of the cross for you. You are important to Him. Jesus Christ not only acted in the past to secure your eternal future but also directed the Holy Spirit to dwell within you in the present.

The Holy Spirit is with you now—whether you are in a hospital room, classroom, bathroom, or kitchen. He accompanies you at the office and on the golf course. We often forget the significance of Jesus Christ’s promise in Hebrews 13:5(b): "Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you."

Tradition tells us that the Apostle John was dipped in boiling oil, and the Holy Spirit was there. When Martin Luther rejected the teachings of the Roman Catholic Church by nailing his 95 Theses to the church door in Wittenberg, Germany, on October 31, 1517, the Holy Spirit was present. When you kissed your spouse for the last time and they took their last breath, the Holy Spirit was there. When you woke up this morning and pushed yourself to start a new day, the Divine Spirit was right there with you. This, my friend, should remind you of how special you are to the Almighty.

Not only is He present, but He is also loving and protecting you with every step you take and every blink of your eyes. I have read that Jessica Buchanan is a powerful and inspirational speaker, and like all professional speakers, she charges a fee for her services, which is customary and appropriate. However, the greatest motivational speaker the world has ever known is always available to share His wisdom with you free of charge. All you have to do is start a conversation with Him and be ready to be amazed, for He rescues people every day. Remember, His name is Jesus.
