Feeling God’s Presence: When You Know He’s Watching Over You

A Morning Routine Filled with Love

There was a time when our daughter would quietly climb out of bed in the early morning and walk into our bedroom. She would rest her chin on the edge of the bed and just stare at me.

Even in sleep, I could sense someone looking at me. The first few times, I was startled—wondering if something was wrong. But after several mornings in a row, I began to expect it. I’d open my eyes, smile at her, and gaze back. She was our firstborn, and she was precious.

These quiet, intimate moments made me think deeply about what it means to be watched—not with fear, but with love.

Feeling Watched: From Fear to Faith

Most people associate the feeling of being watched with unease. But there are times when that feeling brings peace, not fear—especially when it's a spiritual moment with God.

Have you ever felt like God was watching you—not in judgment, but in love? Those are the moments that change everything.

A Personal Experience with God’s Nearness

One Sunday morning, as I sat on our back porch preparing for the sermon I was about to preach, I experienced something unforgettable. With my Bible in one hand and sermon notes in the other, I prayed and reflected. Then suddenly, I paused, looked up, and felt it—God’s presence.

It was as if He was looking right at me. I felt seen. I felt loved. I felt known.

I couldn’t even tell you what scripture I was reading at the time. But I can tell you that in that moment, everything made sense. It was one of those rare times when feeling God’s presence becomes a deeply personal encounter.

Don’t Rush Spiritual Moments

God is always at work in the lives of His children. And sometimes, He allows us to feel His presence in a very real and tangible way.

When those moments come, don’t rush them. Don’t move on too quickly. Just sit in them. Let them wash over you. They’re holy. They’re rare. And they’ll stay with you forever.

Psalm 73:28 says:

“But as for me, it is good to be near God. I have made the Sovereign Lord my refuge; I will tell of all your deeds.”

When You Don’t Feel Close to God

Even the most faithful believers have seasons where God feels distant. We stumble, we sin, we fall short. But the truth of God’s Word reminds us that He is never far.

Psalm 145:18 offers this comforting promise:

“The Lord is near to all who call on him, to all who call on him in truth.”

God’s nearness is not dependent on our feelings but on His faithful presence. Whether you feel Him or not, He is there—watching over you, guiding you, loving you.

Final Thoughts: When God Feels Near

So, the next time you feel someone watching you, pause. It might be your child. Or it might just be your Heavenly Father drawing near.

Whether in quiet mornings, porch-side prayers, or sacred whispers of the Spirit—cherish those moments. Let them remind you that you are never alone.
