Finding True Ownership: A Devotional on Living for Christ

I recently had the opportunity to share a short devotional at a car show event. As attendees admired the beautiful cars and trucks, I posed an important question: Who truly owns us? Are we our own, or have we surrendered ownership of our lives to someone or something else? The Apostle Paul addressed this in Galatians 2:20, stating, "I have been crucified with Christ and I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." In essence, Paul had entrusted ownership of his life to Jesus Christ, allowing Christ to rule and guide him.

It's important to note that this was not a simple, one-time event for Paul; he, like all of us, was a work in progress. There were days when he struggled in his relationship with Christ. In Romans 7:19, he wrote, "For I do not do the good I want to do, but the evil I do not want to do—this I keep on doing." Paul had to continually surrender and submit himself to Christ, dying to self and yielding to God on a daily basis. He reminded us in 2 Timothy 4 that he had "fought the good fight." While he also stated that he had "finished the race" and "kept the faith," the reality is that he fought daily until the end.

We, too, must reflect on our Savior and Lord each day and continue the fight! While it may never be easy, it will always be rewarding!
