The Importance of Noticing the Little Things
It was just a tiny piece of rock lodged between my sock and my foot. I didn't notice it at all during my busy day yesterday, but when I sat down, took off my shoes, and relaxed, I felt that small, annoying object. It was so tiny that it took some effort to find, yet it caused a bit of discomfort that had gone unnoticed throughout the day. Once I removed it, I was able to return to my peaceful moments.
In our fast-paced lives, we often overlook the little things. We become so engrossed in our activities that minor discomforts and issues can completely escape our attention.
However, no person should ever feel unnoticed, unwanted, or unloved. My wife recently shared a heartbreaking story about a young boy who sometimes cries when he thinks of his mother. He cries because he knows she does not want him. That is not just sad; it is truly horrific.
God embodies love, and His love is limitless and available to everyone. If we strive to be like Christ, we must extend our love—even to those who might annoy us, just like that small rock in my sock.
As 1 John 4:11 says, “Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.”
I aspire to be better at loving each and every person. Let’s make a conscious effort to notice the little things and ensure that no one feels overlooked.
