Embracing Change and Love: A Reflection on Life's Seasons

As the green grass begins to grow and spring takes hold of our area, it's a reminder that seasons are constantly changing. For some, the arrival of spring signals a time of renewal, while for others, it marks the transition into fall and winter. In some parts of the world, it seems as though spring lasts year-round.

My wife and I have experienced all these seasons in different parts of the world, where the weather we enjoy is often vastly different from what our friends and family experience in other areas of God's creation. This variation in climate can be compared to life itself. Just as one person may be thriving and enjoying life’s blessings, another may be struggling with illness, frustration, depression, or loneliness. We often don’t know what is happening behind the closed doors of someone else’s life.

This is why it’s important to show love, even when others seem unlovely, and to listen when they need to talk. Life is not just about me or you; it’s about all of us. We may not always agree, and we certainly don’t need to fight over every difference, but we must seek to find common ground. We should strive to walk together, hand in hand, supporting one another along the way.

As Philippians 2:3-4 reminds us: “Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.” Similarly, John 15:12 offers a simple yet profound command: “My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.”

When love is the foundation of our relationships, help and support will come naturally.
