Christmas Candy, Generations, and the True Reason for Celebration
Every Christmas, we make the same chocolate candy with the same ingredients, cooked in the same way, and poured into the same platter. What makes it truly special isn’t just the recipe—it’s the people making it. While the ingredients and the process have remained unchanged, the hands stirring the pots and beating the mixture have passed down through generations.
Though the candy itself is delicious, it’s the tradition that makes it truly meaningful.
The True Meaning of Christmas: A Celebration of Jesus' Birth
Throughout the years, the message of Christmas has remained constant. While elements like the donkey and the little drummer boy have been added to the story, they aren’t found in the Bible. What is unchanging is the core message: Jesus was born. The only begotten Son of God, the Prince of Peace, and the Hope of all who would accept Him, came to us that day.
As I help make the chocolate candy this year, I’ll certainly enjoy my fair share. But I will also pause to give thanks for the true reason we celebrate—Jesus Christ.
Luke 2:6-7 states:
"While they were there, the time came for the baby to be born, and she gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them."
In the end, nothing else really matters.
